Patriotic Finale

Friday found the Muni Band winding up the week at El Dorado Park.

It was easy to spot Bob at the sound board:

Dad, Beverly, and Mom enjoy pre-concert conversation.

Beverly has been coming to the concerts for 43 years:

More dear friends were in the crowd:

Conductor Larry Curtis introduces a number:

Mom, Dick, and Dolores wave the Stars and Stripes:

The grand finale (thanks brother Ken for the pictures!):

Crew members stand amazed...

...at the stir caused by the rocket scientist who blocked the driveway of one of the parking lots with their Fordasauras, trapping hundreds of people:

It was Adam's (on the right) last night on crew:

He was sent off with a special crew group hug:

No concert on Tuesday.

We're going to Disneyland!

Thursday At The Park With Muni Band

We were at Marine Stadium again tonight.

This lucky Long Beach couple was seated front row center:

The piccolos were at it again:

And there I stood with my piccolo:

Even the crew's work gloves can't help but clap along:

Tomorrow: El Dorado Park

It's going to be a great concert.

Please join us!

Happy Independence Day!

The Muni Band was at Los Cerritos Park this evening:

Aunt Charlo and Uncle Joe joined the crowd:

Here are clarinet barrel making partners Mike and Bill:

This is my incredible doctor:

These are very dear friends from church:

As promised, the piccolos in action:

There's nothing better than playing Stars and Stripes Forever on the 4th of July!

Hope you had a great one!

Muni Band Week 2

Welcome to Muni Band Week 2!

A big atta boy goes to riser crew member Craig for overcoming an intense fear of heights and scaling the trucks to put up the band sign:

Way to go, Craig!

Meanwhile, riser crew member Mike keeps us entertained:

Included in tonight's audience was a bus load of music students from East Whittier Middle School:

Wednesday night regulars Ed and Betty came to tonight's concert instead:

I got back to the sound board for a quick visit with my dear husband:

The view from my seat:

This week's excellent singer John O'Campo with conductor Larry Curtis (who finally wore a band shirt tonight!)

Dave at the monitor board:

Adam from the sound crew said he would take pictures of the piccolos playing Stars and Stripes tomorrow.

Stay tuned!

All Clear!

Some of you may know that I had another biopsy to rule out skin cancer a couple of weeks ago.

I had gone in for a re-check after the Mohs surgery on the side of my face.

My excellent dermatologist thought that she might have detected another basal cell carcinoma, this time on my forehead.

She did a shave biopsy (ow!) and I've been waiting for the results.

I got the good news today.

The suspicious area turned out to be the site of a ruptured hair follicle (who knew!).

No Mohs for me!

Thank you for your prayers on my behalf.

Oh, and pass the sunscreen.

Ritzy Reptilian Room With A View

I was at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel yesterday.

It was an utterly splendid afternoon.

I've often wished I could afford to stay in an ocean view room here.

This creature seemed to be enjoying his:

I'll take one Reptilian Room with a view please!
